Character Name: Seto Kaiba His came to me first, damn it!! XD
What Animal do you associate with them?: A real animal? A thoroughbred Horse
Why?: This is where my horse person side shows up, woo. I can see Seto as one of those once in a lifetime racehorses, with bloodlines that aren't special or eyecatching at all, but who comes out with a perfect conformation and ends up coming out of nowhere to win one of the huge races. He also thinks he's the biggest thing around and acts like it, being the pissy stallion that he is until he has to do his job. Every once in a while, though, he has to be turned out with a bigger alpha male than he is, or he'll never learn to behave. Also, long and rangy makes me think horses.

Write a quick drabble involving the character and the animal:
“Nii-sama?”

The boy stared. The horse stared.

“Nii-sama?”

The horse snorted and shook its head. The boy rolled his eyes. Why anyone would waste their money on a dumb animal like this he would never-

“Nii-sama! What are you looking at? They’re riding and racing the horses outside, come watch them with me,” Mokuba said, tugging at his brother’s sleeve and looking up at him with bright stale blue eyes. It hurt, but Seto pushed him off his arm by necessity. After all, it wouldn’t do for Kaiba-sama to see.

“Not now, Mokie. Kaiba-sama wants me to listen. Go out and watch the horses, its fine,” Seto said quietly, urging the boy away with a push. Gozaburo Kaiba was only a few feet away, chomping on his cigar in defiance of all the hay and straw in the training barn. Then again, as Seto and every bodyguard with a KaibaCorp pin in the building knew, he wasn’t there to pay attention to the racehorses. There were deals being made, and Seto was expected to listen and understand it all. The ache of his back every time he moved, remnants of last night’s ‘study session’, underscored the importance of it. Better him than Mokuba, at least.

The scream of a horse right outside broke Seto from his thoughts, but it wasn’t until the cry of a frightened young boy answered it that Seto started to care. Without a thought to the disapproving glare of the man behind him, the boy ran outside. A stallion had gotten loose, thundering around the paddock like a force of nature. A small black haired boy was crouching in a corner, dirty and trembling from his fall off the fence. The horse was charging right toward him. Mokuba.

Seto didn’t hesitate, climbing and dropping over the fence to get between the horse and his brother. His small stature allowed him to get close enough to the animal to seize the reins, hanging right in front of those crushing hooves. The horse screamed again and reared, practically dragging Seto with it, but Mokuba was still at risk. He refused to let go. The horse bucked and reared, but as time went on, seemed to realize that it was not going to free itself this way. After what seemed like forever, the pulling and dragging stopped. Seto was bruised, exhausted, and covered with dust, but Mokuba remained unharmed. The boy came to his senses, finally able to hear his younger brother sobbing his name…as well as able to feel the meaty hands that dropped heavily on his shoulders and pulled him away.

“Never pull a stunt like that again. If this deal falls through, my boy, you will pay for it,” Gozaburo hissed, his voice alone ripping through Seto’s confidence. All the boy could do is set his jaw and nod solemnly. Gozaburo huffed and pulled away, raising his voice to make a more public proclamation. “Go back to the car, boys. We’re almost done here.”

“Of course sir,” Seto replied coolly, his masking air of dignity outreaching his dust covered exterior and almost matching that of the now calmed champion stallion beyond them. He turned to glance at his brother before both of them returned to the car. Mokuba only watched his brother, mouthing ‘I’m sorry’ when they were out of sight of the businessmen. Seto didn’t answer. He was concentrating inwardly instead. After all, it was promising to be a long and painful night.

Character Name: Ken Ichijouji
What Animal do you associate with them?: A puppy
Why?: He's a rescue dog, probably the runt of the litter who got a little too wild when he was separated from his family, and now is making that guilty puppy face and is trying to understand why his owner is mad at him. He's just trying to make things better. :<

Write a quick drabble involving the character and the animal:

The puppy's nose was wet and cold and pressing against Ken's hand, drawing a soft laugh from the girl watching. "Ken, I think he likes you!" Hikari said, covering her mouth with her hand to stifle her giggles. The boy looked up, his cheeks flushing slightly.

"You think so? He's...a really nice puppy," Ken replied, glancing back down to smile softly at the dog.

"Mm, I think he's in training, actually. He got a little scared...I think his last owner had to return him," Hikari said, finally stepping over to the cage to join him. Ken turned to look at her, a hint of worry crossing his face. The girl frowned. "I think he was nippy, but really he was only a little scared. I'm sure he'll find another home where he'll be happier. Puppies always go pretty fast."

The puppy gave a little whimper as Ken looked at him. "Well...I don't think he wants to be here all alone. Maybe I could take him? I mean, if he likes me and all," the boy said, glancing at the puppy guiltily. "He deserves a second chance."

Hikari smiled slightly. "...like you?"

Ken blinked, then nodded. "Yeah. Like me."
